Golpiadu comes from
the Spanish word "golpe" which means "blow,"
in this context, the singer's first blow, prayer, greeting,
to begin the rendition of a "verso" or chant in
meter and rhyme. "Makimallo" comes from the root
word "allo" which means "benevolence;"
in this case, the act of imploring and acknowledging God's
benevolence. This piece is inspired by the traditions of the
Itawit and Ibanag people of Cagayan province, Northern Luzon.
Infrormants: Florentino Banggayan, Prof. Pedro Abraham, and
Sis. Rosario Battung. Arrangement and additional percussions
by Bob Aves. Bass by Rommel de la Cruz. Skin drums by Budet

First,
I must speak of the name
of God
'Cause that's the way I do things
So I must speak of the name of
God
Because he is the one who
created us all
So I must speak of the
name of God
Because
God is the one that
created us all
God is the great one
Who comes
to take care of us
The great one
Who comes to take care of us
God is the great one
God who gives us good health and
merriment for all
The one
who gives us good health and
merriment for all
The old and the young as well
The old and the young as well
The old and the young as well
So this
is the reason why
I must speak of God, first of all.
AHH BEFORE
ANYTHING ELSE, I MUST UTTER THE NAME
God, most
powerful, most powerful,
CREATOR OF LIFE, MOST POWERFUL
God, most powerful, most powerful,
most powerful
GIVER OF HEALTH AND MERRIMENT FOR YOUNG & OLD
God, most powerful, most powerful,
most powerful
SO THIS IS THE REASON WHY,
FIRST I MUST SPEAK OF
God, most powerful, most powerful,
most powerful.

I
yearn for yesterday
I wish for past times
When the earth was still young
When the land was still fresh
When grandfather Man-eteb
Was still living
When grandparent Manlapagen
Was still existing
The situation
was of the earth like a basin
That was not cracked
The land was like a bowl
That was not broken
And the
very reason, the explanation behind it
Was that the customs were not yet abandoned
The folkways were not deserted
And in
that case, the people were like pandan that
Slept soundly at the treasured river fountain
And for that reason, the inhabitants were like
Dansuli that slumbered peacefully at the
Preserved spring
That was rarely turbulent
That seldom shook its waves
For there was no existing imbalance
There was no inclination to fall
Because brothers were united like fastened hair
Relatives were fastened as one, like hair.

Pagpupuri
sa iyo, Diyos
Ikaw ang kataas-taasan
Ang buong sanlibutan
ay sa 'yo sumasamba
Ang lahat ng anghel
Ang buong sansinukuban at kalangitan
Ang mga sanggol na kay dalisay
ay hayag ang iyong kapangyarihan
Pinagpala
Pinagpala
Pinagpala
Hari ng banal na araw
Ang buong langit at lupa
ay puno ng iyong luwalhati
Ang korong maringal
ng iyong mga apostoles
Mga propeta
Kay raming mga martir
sa iyo'y lubos ang paggalang
at pagbunyi
Ang buong sangkatauhan
di masukat ang 'yong kadakilaan
Ama namin
Ikaw ang pinakadakila
Kay banal ng 'yong kaluluwa
Tulad ng bugtong anak
na s'yang iyong
pinakamamahal
Maluwalhating Kristo
Hari ka
ng buong kadakilaan
Ikaw ang walang kamatayang anak ng Diyos
Ipinunla sa sinapupunang dalisay
upang magtubos ng sangkatauhan
Nilupig mo ang kamatayan't nagpakilala
Sa kanang kamay ka ng Poon nakaupo
at minsan pang babalik
Narito kami
Nagsusumamo
ay kaming iniligtas
ng iyong mahal na dugo
at humuhiling sa 'yong kami'y tulungan
walang simula't hangganan
sa kabutiha't kabanalan mo ay kaawaan
at iligtas kami sa bawat kapahamakan
Pamana po ninyo ay pagkapurihan
Patnubayan n'yo po kami
at samahan po ninyo
sa walang kahangganan
Sa bawat-isang araw
ay sasambahin
Ang ngalan mo'y sasambitin magpakailanman
ng walang pagmamaliw
Diyos na ipinunla ng walang sala
Tanuran, kahabagan n'yo po kami
Biyayanan po ninyo kami
ng mahal n'yong awa
Tulad nitong pananalig sa 'yo ng sangkatauhan
ay sa 'yo nananampalataya
At h'wag n'yo po kaming ipahintulot sa tukso
At iadya n'yo kami
sa buhay na walang hangganan.

We
praise you, oh God
You are the highest
The whole world
Worships you
All the angels,
Heavens and universe
The cherubims and seraphims
Proclaim your might and glory
Holy
Holy
Holy
King of the Sabbath
The heavens and the earth
Are filled with your glory
The great choir
Of Apostles
An immense number of prophets
And martyrs
Completely respect you
And honor you
All of humanity
Bow down to your immeasurable grandeur
Most reverent
Holy is your spirit
Also your begotten Son
Whom you so
Love
Glorious Christ
You are the king
Of greatness
You are the eternal son of the Father
Conceived in the womb most pure
To bring redemption to humanity
You conquered death and revealed yourself thereafter
You are seated on the right hand of the Father
And shall come again
Here we are
We beseech you
Your servants whom you redeemed
By your precious blood
Ask you for salvation, oh Lord
Without beginning or end
In your everlasting kindness and holiness, have mercy
And save your people, oh Lord
Speak well of your inheritance
Guide us
And bring us
To eternal life
Every single day
We worship
And adore your name forever and ever
Without end
Oh Lord, God conceived without sin
Watch us and have mercy on us.
May we be filled, oh Lord
With your mercy
As humanity puts its trust in you,
I put my trust in you, oh Lord
Do not bring us to the test
But deliver us
To the everlasting life. |

AMAZING
GRACE, HOW SWEET THE SOUND
THAT SAVED A WRETCH LIKE ME
I ONCE WAS LOST BUT NOW AM FOUND
WAS BLIND BUT NOW I SEE
T'WAS
GRACE THAT TAUGHT MY HEART TO FEAR
AND GRACE MY FEARS RELIEVED
HOW PRECIOUS DID THAT GRACE APPEAR
THE HOUR I FIRST BELIEVED
THROUGH
MANY DANGERS, TOILS AND SNARES
I HAVE ALREADY COME
'TIS GRACE HAS BROUGHT ME SAFE THUS FAR
AND GRACE WILL LEAD ME HOME
THE LORD
HAS PROMISED GOOD TO ME
HIS WORD MY HOPE SECURES
HE WILL MY SHIELD AND PORTION BE
AS LONG AS LIFE ENDURES
AND WHEN
THIS FLESH AND HEART SHALL FAIL
AND MORTAL LIFE SHALL CEASE
I SHALL POSSESS WITHIN THE VEIL
A LIFE OF JOY AND PEACE
WHEN WE'VE
BEEN THERE TEN THOUSAND YEARS
BRIGHT SHINING AS THE SUN
WE'VE NO LESS DAYS TO SING GOD'S PRAISE
THEN WHEN WE'D FIRST BEGUN.
