EMULSION ADHESIVES (POLYVINYL ACETATE ADHESIVES)

Polyvinyl acetate emulsion resins are water-thinnable homopolymer or copolymer emulsions which offer the compounder versatile bases for formulating adhesives for specific applications.  The adhesive property of the emulsion begins with the loss of water through absorption in the porous substrates or through open time evaporation when bonding non porous substrates.

TYPE
APPLICATIONS/CHARACTERISTICS
Vinyl Acetate Homopolymer
  • Base emulsion for compounding; good compatibility with plasticizers and solvents
Vinyl Acetate-Acrylic Copolymer
  • Pressure-sensitive emulsion for bonding difficult to adhere substrates

HOT MELT ADHESIVES

Hot melts are a new breed of adhesives with fast curing properties making them suitable for use with high speed machines.  Conventional adhesives are unsuitable for automatic operations due to difficulty of bonding or long set time.  Hot melts have a wide range of applications, such as automatic packaging, book binding, wood binding, etc.
