The Provincial Government of Agusan del Norte is conducting a Mass Treatment Program for Schistosomiasis in affected areas of the province to prevent the prevalence of the said disease.

The Department of Health's (DOH) record revealed that schistosomiasis persists to be the leading cause of morbidity in the past months and is still endemic in two (2) cities, forty one (41) municipalities, and two hundred twenty one (221) barangays in the entire region.

Parasitological survey conducted by the Provincial Schistosomiasis Center showed that in the province of Agusan del Norte, the positive carrier of said disease had already reached to five hundred fifty three (553).
