The municipality of Magallanes is a coastal town. The center of its economic
activity is at the tip of a coastal plain between Baug river on the south,
mouth of Agusan River on the west, and on the north running eastward lies
Butuan City. It has an approximate land area of 3,419 hectares. The town
hosts three of the largest industrial complexes in Caraga.
Magallanes offers the vast swamplands which falls within the territories of
barangay Guiasan, Taod-oy, Caloc-an, Buhang, Poblacion. These swamplands
are now being developed into productive fishpond. It supplies prawn,
bangus, shrimps and crabs.
