The Provincial Government identified three areas within the province
to be developed into the Agusan del Norte Special Economic Zone (ANSEZ).
These areas comprise the components of the ANSEZ.
Component 1 The Lake Mainit Eco-Tourism Estate (LAMETE)
Lake Mainit is a potential attraction to tourists, therefore, its aesthetic
value is going to be preserved and enhanced. The LAMETE covers the municipalities of
of Jabonga, Kitcharao, Santiago and Tubay. Its destination clusters
are categorized into five clusters, namely : the Kitcharao Eco and Mangape Islet Park,
Tubay Mountain Beach Resort, Lake Mainit MARINA and Fishermen's Wharf, and, the Malimono
Ridge. The clustering of destinations are designed in a way so that a
tourist may opt to stay in one destination or prolong his stay by completing a
tour package involving all the destinations in the LAMETE.
Component II Nasipit Agusan del Norte
Industrial Estate
This is located in the Municipality of Nasipit and extends toward the Municipality of Buenavista.
The core of the zone shall be known as the Nasipit Agusan del Norte
Industrial Estate (NANIE). This is delineated as an industrial estate
and people's industrial enterprise. The target locators are those firms
which process agri-based raw materials preferably sourced within the
province and its neighboring areas. Other locators to the zone are those
with forward and backward linkages to agri-based processing.
Component III Western Agusan Agri-Eco
Tourism Zone
This involves the development of caves and beaches from the western tip
of Carmen to the eastern part of the province. The great potential for
agri-tourism of the scenic hills and rugged terrain of Carmen planted with
patches of mangoes shall be explored. Cable cars are projected toc
onnect the different hills traversing verdant mango plantations.
Component IV Tubay Agri-Processing Center
(TAPCEN)
Tubay Agri-Processing Center (TAPCEN) is located in Barangay Dona Rosario,
Municipality of Tubay, Agusan del Norte. It comprises approximately
200 hectares, more or less. The area is predominantly flat lands previously
planted to bananas.
The site is traversed by the national highway with about 1.5 km frontage.
It is approximately 86 km. from Surigao City; 39 km. from Butuan City;
43 km. from Butuan airport; 500 meters from Tubay feeder; 63 km. from
Nasipit International Port; 10 km. from Shell Cabadbaran Depot and seven
km. away from the fabulous Tubay beaches and recreational area.
The area was previously planted to bananas and now to coconuts. It is
envisioned that with the development of Tubay Agri-Processing Center
the potential of Tubay and its surrounding environs will be harnessed
thereby pushing CARAGA Region in the forefront of Philippine 2000.
