PINTIG NG CSC PULSATES ANEW

The Pinag-isang Tinig, Isip at Gawa ng CSC (PINTIG ng CSC) seminar cum workshop on CNA focusing on policy and tactics, held last May 14 and 15 at the CSC function room was a resounding success. Regions I, III, IV, VII, IX, CAR and NCR were represented in the two-day event, a first in the history of the union.

Participants were also provided with inputs on PSU in the frame of militant, progressive and nationalist unionism.

Janet Leah Ramos, PINTIG President gave a brief orientation on PINTIG, its struggles and perspective. She also echoed the associations' optimism that this would eventually result in the consolidation and expansion of members at the Central Office and at the regional levels. The proposed CNA shall be presented to the CSC management before the year-ends.###

NFA-EA CLINCHES CNA WITH MANAGEMENT

The National Food Authority Employees’ Association (NFA-EA) clinched its first-ever Collective Negotiations Agreement with the NFA management. Deliberations started as early as December but the agreement was concluded only last March 23, in a signing ceremony held at the NFA-EA Canteen in Quezon City.

Rendering support to its charter member, COURAGE through its president Ferdinand Gaite witnessed the event, which was also attended by NFA-EA Regional Board Officers and Members.

Highlights of the CNA includes the granting of union leaves equivalent to a maximum of 50 % of work time to officials performing work related to union matters, provision of union office for all chapter organizations and provident fund for employees. A signing bonus of P5,000 per employee was also granted as part of the package of benefits.

The agreement, the first from among the 28 bureaus and attached agencies of the Department of Agriculture, shall be in effect for three years.###

NPDCEA CONDUCTS SEMINAR ON PUBLIC SECTOR UNIONISM

The National Parks and Development Committee Employees Association (NPDCEA) sponsored a two-day seminar on Public Sector Unionism for its officers and members of the Board of Directors last July 18 to 19 at the operations building of the NPDC. The activity was first of a plan to hold a series of PSU training to strengthen the union leadership and prepare membership for future union undertakings.

A national situationer and a brief overview of the worker's struggle from KPMM Secretary General Manny Sarmiento provided the framework for discussion. The participants were also enlightened by the lecture shared by COURAGE President Ferdie Gaite on government employees' condition anchoring on NPDC workers issues and problems.

At the end of the seminar, they also vow to support the sectoral demands for salary increase and benefits and struggle against lay-off.###
