Dial-up Networking set-up in Windows 95/98/NT
  1. Check if you have the necessary network components installed.
    Click Start, Settings, Control Panel, and double-click Network icon.
    The required components are Dial-up Adapter and TCP/IP. If you already have both, skip to 3.
  2. Dial-up Adapter can be added by clicking Add. Select Adapter. Click Add again. Select Microsoft and Dial-up Adapter. Then click Ok. For TCP/IP click Add. Select Protocol. Select Add. Select Microsoft and TCP/IP and click Ok.
  3. Select the TCP/IP component Click Properties. Under IP Address tab, select Obtain an IP address automatically. For DNS Configuration tab, select Disable DNS. For Gateway tab, select no installed gateways. When everything is correct, press Ok. Then Ok again. (Do not press skip file if it asks you for the windows 95/98/NT CD. Your system will not be properly configured if you do so).
  4. Click Yes when asked to restart your computer to effect the new settings and changes.
  5. Next step is to install Dial-up Networking. Again, click Start, Settings, and Control Panel. Double-click Add/Remove Programs. Select Windows Setup. Select Communications. Click Details. Check Dial-up Networking. Press Ok. Then Ok again.
  6. Double click My Computer icon on Desktop. (If not available on desktop, click Start Program and double click My Computer.) Double click Dial-up Networking folder. Double click Make New Connection. Windows will detect your modem. Follow instructions. Then click Next. (If modem can't be detected, you select your modem from the list to be given. Click Next.) Type SKYI-BTL on the blank provided for the name of the computer. Type in 1238. Leave Area Code blank, then select Philippines (63) for the Country code. Click Next. Click Finish.
  7. Press the right mouse button over the newly created SKYI-BTL icon. Select Properties. Under General tab, uncheck Use country code and area code. Click the Server Types tab. Select Type of Dial-up Server as PPP: Windows 95, Windows NT 3.5, Internet. Check TCP/IP under allowed network protocols and Enable software compression under advanced options. Uncheck everything else. Click Ok when done.
  8. Press the right mouse button over the newly created SKYI-BTL icon. Select Properties. Under General tab, uncheck Use country code and area code. Click the Server Types tab. Select Type of Dial-up Server as PPP: Windows 95, Windows NT 3.5, Internet. Check TCP/IP under allowed network protocols and Enable software compression under advanced options. Uncheck everything else. Click Ok when done.
    Create Shortcut. You will be asked: "Windows cannot create shortcut here.
    Do you want the shortcut to be placed on the desktop instead?" Click Yes.
  9. Configuration is complete when you see the SKYI-BTL icon (showing 2 computers and 1 telephone) you have just created on your desktop.
  10. Getting access is as easy as just double-clicking on SKYInternet icon on Desktop.
    Provide your registered user name and password on the blank provided.
    Phone number should only be 1238. Dialing from should be default location.
  11. If you have Call Waiting enabled on your line, click on Dial Properties.
    Check This Location has call waiting. On the blank field beside this, type *31.
    Press Ok to commit the changes. (Your call waiting feature should always be deactivated /disabled before an internet session. After you disconnect, call waiting is re-established).
  12. Now you are ready to start dialing by clicking Connect. After establishing a successful connection,
    you can then run your browser, access your web-based email, engage in on-line chat, etc.
  13. To disconnect, double click on the two computer icon on lower right portion of your
    screen beside computer time. Click Disconnect.


Browser Set-up

If you are installing your browser software for the first time on your PC, simply accept the default settings for the Internet options. If your browser was pre-configured for use with another Internet Service other than SKYInternet, please ensure that the browser is not configured to use a proxy server. For more details, please refer to the on-line Help of your browser software.


E-mail Set-up

  1. A personalized SKYinternet E-mail address will be created for you, free of charge upon registration or application. You can access your mail through Microsoft Outlook Express.

          To configure Microsoft Outlook Express:

    • Open Microsoft Outlook Express. On the Menu, click Tools. Select Accounts. On the Internet Accounts, go to Mail tab and select your Account Name. Then, click the Properties button.
    • On the General Tab, type your login name on the Mail Account field and fill-up your name, organization and e-mail address.
    • Put a check on Include this account when doing a full Send and Receive.
    • Click Servers Tab and check if the following information are correct:
      Incoming mail server: pop.skyinet.net
      Outgoing mail server: mail.skyinet.net
      The Incoming Mail server is a POP3 server
      Account Name: your_email_account_name
      Password: your_email_account_password
    • On the Connection, select Connect using my phone line and select SKYInternet as your Dial-Up Networking connection. Click apply. Then, click Ok.

          To create your account using microsoft outlook express:

    • Open Microsoft Outlook Express. On the Menu, click Tools. Select Accounts. Click the Mail folder. Click Add and select Mail. On the Internet Connection Wizard, type your name, your e-mail address. Then, click Next.
    • On the Internet Mail logon, select Logon using, then type your login name and password. Then, click Next.
    • Type your login name on the Internet Mail Account name field.
    • On the Choose Connection Type, select Connect using my phone line. Then click Next.
    • On the Dial-Up connection, select Use an existing dial-up connection and select SKYI-BTL.
      Then, click Next.
    • Click Finish to complete the setup.

No. You can only access your Zero Plan through your BayanTel telephone line which you have registered during application/account creation.


If I have multiple BayanTel lines, can I access my Zero Plan through these lines?
No. But if you want to access it through your other telephone lines, you have to register again the telephone number you wish to use, provided that the line is in the same address. Then, the original registered number will not take effect anymore. Thus, they cannot use two BayanTel lines to access same account of Zero Plan.

What is the BT/internet credit limit? What are the policies behind the implementation of the CL?

  1. Set Credit Limit for BT will still apply.
  2. Internet usage Credit Limit of P1,000 will be inclusive to the approved existing CL per subscribers.
  3. Exceeding CL policies will still be applied:
    • If internet usage exceeds Internet credit limit, internet access will automatically be disconnected. However, if total BayanTel CL is not yet exceeded, the subscriber can still use his LEC/Long Distance services.
    • If LEC/LDS usage exceeds Total CL even if internet CL has not reached its maximum credit limit, Long distance services will be deactivated/tollbarred. But, subscriber can still access the SKYInternet. If and only when the line is deactivated/disconnected temporarily or permanently, the subscrber cannot access the SKYInternet.


What will happen if the internet CL is exceeded?
When BayanTel subscriber’s usage is 80% of his existing CL, an email will be sent to the subscriber informing him of the 80% usage. And when his internet usage exceeds his internet credit limit, SKYInternet deactivates access automatically. BT policies on exceeding CL will still apply. However, if the BT line is deactivated whether or not the internet CL is not yet exceeded, the subscriber cannot access the internet.


What are the reactivation processes?

  1. Internet access will be reactivated automatically if payment of usage is paid in full.
  2. Internet access will be reactivated manually by SKYInternet if payment of usage is partial and usage is below CL. SKYInternet CS can view the payments on the OSS to validate the payment and reactivates the account/internet access.


Who will bill? Will the LEC and SKYInternet be in one bill?
SKYInternet will bill the internet usage. No, the BayanTel/landline charges and SKYInternet charges will not be billed in one Statement of Account nor in one envelope. Each will follow its own billing cycle. The Zero Plan subscriber will receive his SKYInternet billing a week after cutoff of his SKYInternet billing cycle. Likewise, it will be emailed or can be accessed through the SKYInternet website at www.skyinet.net.

The SKYInternet billings will follow the SKYInternet billing cycles:

  1. Cycle A – for accounts created every 1st of the month to the 7th day of the next month. Due Date: + 16 days.
  2. Cycle B – for accounts created every 8th of the month to the 15th day of the next month. Due Date: + 16 days
  3. Cycle C – for accounts created every 16th of the month to the 22nd day of the next month. Due date: + 16 days
  4. Cycle D – for accounts created every 23rd of the month to the 28th day of the next month. Due date: +16 days
  5. All accounts created on the 29th to the 31st are included in Cycle A.

What will I do if I will see a dialogue box stating "No Dial Tone"?
Check if your phone line is connected to your computer, your handset is off the hook, or if your modem is connected to the correct port on the modem. Or please have your modem check if defective.

What will I do if I will see a a dialogue box stating "Dial-up Networking Error"?
Check if all the network components are installed. You can also try removing and adding them again. You may have to set up Dial up Networking configuration again. Please refer to the Step by Step configuration on the second section of this FAQs on how to do this.

What does "Requested URL could not be retrieved (or website not found)" mean?
Either the URL is invalid or the remote web site is down. It may also be that you have not yet dialed up on to the server.

What does "Operation time out" mean and what will I do after reading it?
It means, while within your browser, the remote web site is too busy to accept any more requests or the path to/ the web site itself is down. So try to connect again later.

What will I do if "The Connect To Window" doesn’t appear anymore?
This happens usually after an improper Windows shutdown. You can still connect by going to My computer, Dial-up Networking, and double-clicking the SkyInternet icon. After getting a connection, launch your browser software and do #8 of the step by step connection to create the SkyInternet shortcut icon.

What will I do if I get disconnected during a session?
If you have call-waiting feature on your phone, check if you have properly disabled the call-waiting feature. The call waiting feature should be deactivated before a session. Also, somebody may have picked up the handset or an extension phone.

What will I do if I will see a a dialogue box stating "The computer you’re dialing into is not answering"?
Double-check that the number that your modem is dialing is 1238.
