INTERNATIONAL ROAMING (Global Reach Internet Connection)
|
Access your SKY Internet Account from over 150 countries
around the world without paying long-distance fees!
| |
 |
You can access your e-mail and surf the Internet while abroad as if you were home.
SKY Internet's International Roaming Feature with its alliance with GRIC
lets you log on to the Internet in 150 countries worldwide.
You can log on to any GRIC member ISP
as if you are logging in to SKY Internet, without the costly long distance charges.
How to Roam
Make sure your account is activated for international roaming by calling our
Helpdesk through 411-2000 / 1-800-1-888-SKY1 (7591) or send an e-mail to
helpdesk@skyinet.net. Registering your account to activate the
international roaming feature is free.
Download the list of access and helpdesk/technical support numbers in the
Roaming Phonebook (this is regularly updated so visit this site often!).
To access your SKY Internet account outside of the Philippines, simply dial in to
any of the published remote access numbers in the Roaming Phonebook just as you
would dial in to SKY Internet (don't forget to change your dial-up number from
SKY Internet's to the access number of the ISP in the country you are located).
Login with your usual Sky Internet username (e.g. username@skyinet.net)
and current password.
The "@skyinet.net" is required to be able to identify you as a "roamer" in a
non-Sky Internet POP.
GRICdial (for Mac and Windows)
If you are using Windows Dial-up Networking to connect to SKY Internet,
you can download GRICdial (for Windows 95/98SE/2000/NT4.0). You may
also download the MacOS (System 8.x - 9.0) version of GRICdial
by clicking on the "Download" graphic from this link.
This software acts as the dialer and will automatically change the necessary
network settings and the dial-up number in your computer. Before you leave
the country, be sure to update the POP numbers by logging on to SKY Internet
and clicking on File|Update Phonebook. You will still have to log in with
your Sky Internet username and your current password.
Hardware
Other countries have different phone jacks which are not compatible to the
RJ-11 Philippine standard. Please refer to the TeleAdapt
site for more information on international standards.
Support
For technical help in the country you are in, refer to the
Roaming Phonebook.
There is a help line next to the dial-up access number. All international help lines
are staffed with English speaking representatives. Information regarding this is
included in the GRICDial software.
Rates
$6.00/hour + 0.50 per successful login (+VAT)
International roaming rates are subject to the prevailing foreign exchange
rate at the end of each month.
Rates may change. To confirm the most current rates,
e-mail the helpdesk or call the help hotline at 411-2000.
