E-mail Management
Browser

CGI

YOUR ONLINE USAGE
If you are a SKY Internet subscriber, you may check your online usage at any time by going to the section of this site (sign-in required). (You must dial-in using your SKY Internet account in order to access the SECURED AREA. Password & sign-in required. If you dial-in using another account, the server will not verify your password).

PASSWORDS
All SKY Internet subscribers should change their temporary passwords during their first login. It is good Internet practice to regularly change your login and e-mail passwords.
(You must dial-in using your SKY Internet account in order to enter the SECURED AREA. Password & sign-in required. If you dial-in using another account, the server will not verify your password).
Passwords should not be common or obvious words and should be difficult to guess. Using symbols and alternate capitalization is a good way to guarantee the safety of your passwords. Avoid using names, common words, birthdays or anything that can be traced to you.
Changing your passwords as often as possible increases the security of your account.

MAILBOX SPACE
Mailbox space is based on the Subscription Package. This space is used to store all your incoming mail until you retrieve it using an e-mail program such as Eudora, Outlook Express, or the e-mail capabilities of your browser.
Incoming e-mail that exceeds this quota will be returned to the sender stating that there is not enough mailbox space in your account. You will need to regularly clear your mailbox by downloading your mail. Look for the option in your e-mail program that deletes mail from the server as you retrieve it. If you need any help in retrieving your e-mail especially when it has huge attachments, the helpdesk will be happy to accommodate your requests on a case-to-case basis. --more on this topic

E-MAIL MANAGEMENT TIPS
Make it a habit to manage and organize your e-mail periodically. Sometimes it is wise to activate more than one e-mail account to assist you in classifying the e-mail you receive (the capability to do this depends on the SKY Internet package you have). A good idea as well would be to sign-up for a free e-mail account at popular Internet e-mail sites such as:
HOTMAIL.com
GEOCITIES.com
YAHOO.com
E-mail.com
Internet sites such as geocities.com also provides free space for homepages.

UPGRADE YOUR BROWSERS
Upgrading to the latest browser version that your computer can handle is a sure way to benefit from the bug-fixes, improvements in speed, and the latest capabilities of the net. This site is best viewed using a 4.x version of Netscape or in any browser that supports frames, css, and javascripts. --more on this topic

BOOKMARK YOUR SITES
Tired of having to type the http's and www's of all those long URLs to your favorite sites? Well then, BOOKMARK them by pressing Control+D for Windows or Command+D for MacOS. If that doesn't suit your taste, just go to the menu bar and choose Bookmarks and then select the save bookmark option. You can then link to the site directly by choosing it from the Bookmark menu without having to key-in anything.

ACTIVATE JAVA
Most sites take advantage of the versatility of the JAVA Script Programming Language (including this one). By running java applets (mini applications), a lot can be achieved. If the webpages you view display some convoluted code along with the content, it might mean that JAVA is disabled. We recommend that you enable JAVA. This option is usually found in the preference folder/options of your browser.

SKY Internet CGI TIPS
Learn more about CGI before attempting to make use of cgi scripts.
There are useful scripts on the web, type in a keyword in our search page or in the url status window to find the links.
Modify the variables in the script to suit your directory.
If you need to know your full directory name, a variable which will be varied for convenience is available. xys23r is the variable name. Therefore /xys23r/username (primary account) is your full path name.
You may mail the web-administrator or the helpdesk for more information.
Please also review the SKY Internet CGI Policies.
