G.R.I.C. Configurations

You can access your e-mail and surf the Internet even while abroad through SKY Internet's International Roaming Feature. SKY Internet is present in 150 countries through the GRIC program.

You can dialup to any GRIC member ISP in the country you're in as if you were dialing into your SKY Internet account in the Philippines. Since you will be using a local number, you don't have to worry about paying long-distance fees.

Q1. What is Global Roaming?
A1. SKY Internet with its alliance with GRIC Communications, Inc. provides dial-up access from virtually anywhere around the world. GRIC has compiled the Global Reach Internet Connection (GRiC) Network, which includes Internet Service Providers (ISPs) worldwide. Using the GRIC Network, SKY Internet subscribers can access their Skyinet account from many locations around the world.

G.R.I.C.
FIRST, get the appropriate numbers and settings from the G.R.I.C. website by clicking here.
You will need this info for configuring your dialer.
Using the numbers and settings that correspond to the country you will be in, configure the Dialer so that you may log on to the Internet.

Follow the same directions as if configuring your Dialer to your local settings except use the appropriate G.R.I.C. info.

Q2. How do I use Global Roaming?
A2. Access to Global Roaming is simple: just configure your dialer to dial into one of SKY Internet's global access numbers (just as you would a SKY Internet dial-up local number) using your complete login info (username@skyinet.net and your Password). Call the SKY Internet helpdesk for assistance at 411-2000 to access this service.
Click here to get dial-up information from the G.R.I.C. website.
You might want to consult the HELPDESK for instructions on downloading and using it.

Q3. How do I become "roaming enabled"?
A3. All SKY Internet subscribers are automatically eligible for Global Roaming. E-mail the HELPDESK or call the helpdesk hotline at 411-2000 for all relevant details, country access list, and up-to-the-moment minimal access fees.

Q4. What are the System Requirements for the GRIC Dialer?

Q5. If I can't get connected or need assistance while abroad, does GRIC provide customer support?
A5. Technical support numbers for the local ISP through which you are connecting are available via the "Details" button on the GRIC dialer. All international help lines are staffed with English speaking representatives. Connectivity and technical issues should be reported directly to the ISP to whom you are trying to connect. Long distance charges may apply.
You might want to contact the HELPDESK before leaving the Philippines to make sure you have everything you need to access your SKY Internet account while abroad.

Q6. Can I use IRC or access newsgroups while I use Global Roaming?
A6. E-mail and the World Wide Web are fully accessible to you. IRC and access to the Usenet newsgroups are not available when you use Global Roaming.

Q7. I have multiple mailboxes/users. Can they each travel independently and use Global Roaming?
A7. Yes, absolutely! Each user can dial-in independently from a GRIC member country and access their SKY Internet account, as long as they do not dial in simultaneously.
