Q1. Can I CHAT using my SKY Internet?
A1. Yes. It is possible for you and other people to CHAT (so to speak) with each other live and in real-time via the CHAT capabilities of the Internet. As an Internet subscriber, it is just natural that you dial-in to the server using a local phone number. So, wherever you might be in the world, as long as you are logged-in to your Internet server, you can CHAT without worrying about long-distance calling fees. Think of the savings!
SKY Internet has its own Chat Server.

Q2. How do I CHAT?
A2. Here's how:
You need to have chat software installed in your computer. The response times are much faster this way. Setup and run your chat software (configurations). Chat programs usually ask you to supply a nickname or alias of your choice. Be creative.
After supplying the user information, you can then enter or choose a chat server. A list of chat servers are usually found inside an Address book.

To join the SKY Internet Chat Lounge, type in our chat server address:

irc.skyinet.net and port no. 6667
Once you are inside the server, you will be asked to join a room. View the list of rooms available and join in. You can now start to chat --more on this topic

Q3. Can I CHAT using my Internet browser?
A3. Yes. Several websites offer CHAT ROOMS where you can meet different people, discuss specific topics, express your views, or just plain have fun.

Examples of sites that have chat rooms are :
• Geocities
• Lycos
• Snap

Some websites are capable of opening a special Java-driven window that allows you to access the port #s of specific chat rooms but the most efficient way is by using chat software such as ICQ and IRC. Basically, if you want to surf the Net, a browser is your best bet; if you want to chat, it's best to use chat software. Our Software Downloads page provides you an assortment of chat programs.

Q4. When logging on to a server, I get disconnected. Is there something wrong with my setup?
A4. This happens quite often when you try to access international chat servers. The server could be down or may be busy handling other tasks and taking too long to reply to your request for connection. The best thing to do when this happens is to try your luck in other chat servers.

Q5. What do you mean by flooding?
A5. Flooding is a term used in chat when you suddenly receive unending garbled messages on screen causing you to be disconnected from the server. This could be done by someone connected in the same server you're connected to, or caused by poor data transmission.
