
Objectives
General:
The conference aims to provide a venue where indigenous peoples, themselves,
will analyze the processes and substantive issues in resolving conflicts
involving indigenous peoples, highlight the lessons learned from these processes
and come up with policy recommendations to be addressed to indigenous peoples,
governments, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and inter-governmental
bodies.
Specific:

Review, synthesize and draw lessons from the experience of a specific
ethnic group/minority group/indigenous peoples vis-ŕ-vis States and/or
multinational corporations/transnational corporations; |

Identify the dynamics and processes involved in peace building
initiatives; |
 |
Describe and analyze the actual conduct of peace building
initiatives; |
 |
Evaluate the implementation of the peace agreements/accords; |
 |
Recommend measures or mechanisms for the attainment of a just and lasting
peace in indigenous peoples' lands; |
 |
Disseminate/popularize the indigenous people’s perspectives and
recommended methods and approaches to conflict-resolution/peace-building and
sustainable development. |

Come up with specific policy recommendations on the role of
intergovernmental organizations like the UN or its specialized agencies. |
